Supplementation and Your Environment
Nutritional supplements take a lot of heat in the news and the fact that the FDA is trying to regulate the industry just reinforces the controversy. But whatever your views are regarding supplements, we want to highlight some basic reasons for adding them to your daily routine.
Modern man's food supply has essentially been stripped of many of its natural nutrients through years of farming, which has depleted the soil, and through additional loss during transport to our supermarkets. If you have the opportunity to grow your own fruits and vegetables you can fortify the soil but not all of us have this option. We feel that everyone can benefit from supplementation, some more than others, but the reasons are valid. And it really doesn't matter how well you're eating -- our soils have much lower levels of minerals today than they did 50 years ago. Farmers actually supplement their livestock for this very reason.
Now that we have your attention ...
Many people eat lots of raw foods, the fruits and veggies that Mom always told you to eat more of. But let's face it, the majority of us just don't eat enough fruits OR vegetables to make a difference in our diets. Yet their importance to good health cannot be emphasized enough -- they supply us with enzymes, vitamins and minerals, fiber, amino acids, fatty acids, and basically all the essentials needed for optimum health.
When you consider the state of the world we're living in today -- well, it's alarming how toxic it really is. In addition to airborne toxins, more and more pollution contaminates our water supply (pharmaceuticals, rocket fuel, etc.) which directly affect our food. We are exposed to herbicides, pesticides, etc. on a daily basis, in the air and in our food. And of course, STRESS adds yet another component that further escalates our health issues. This is why it is so important to optimize our antioxidant defense system to control oxidative stress.

Supplementation and You
We believe that good health is a process. It involves more than just eating right and exercising regularly. It starts with choosing to put good things in your body. From the quality and quantity of the water you consume to the organic produce you pay a little extra for, good health is always a choice. And that includes supplementing. In general, we recommend taking a good multi-vitamin with minerals each day for your nutritional requirements and we feel that Passion4Life is a great choice ...

Passion4Life
Passion4Life is an incredible, all-in-one liquid supplement. It provides most of your basic daily requirements of vitamins, minerals, fruits, greens, amino acids, and some additional nutrients like D-Ribose to help give you more energy. Several of the ingredients help to balance blood sugar. And it includes some of today's most popular super-fruits, like mangosteen, goji, noni, and acai. All nutrients are food based.
Passion4Life does NOT include much calcium/magnesium, as excess calcium can block absorption of the other nutrients. So it is recommended that1500 mg of liquid cal/mag (2:1 ratio) be added in the evening before bed. And while Passion4Life includes 600 IUs of vitamin D3 (150% RDA), many experts now recommend 5000 IUs a day, which can be achieved by adding the high-quality D3 spray (also carried by TamPogo).
For those who are very particular about ingredients, Passion4Life is mostly sweetened with natural sweeteners (erythritol/tagatose and stevia). There is a trace amount of Sucralose, and the manufacturers are looking at reformulating with something all-natural. Passion4Life is also largely free of herbs, but does have some Cat's Claw in it so if you are on any medications, you may wish to review any possible drug interactions.
Why Our Bodies NEED Us To Supplement
The following are just some of the basic nutrients that we require from our food and supplements in order to keep the body running optimally.
Enzymes
Enzymes are a kind of protein that begin and speed up most of the chemical processes in the body; without them, life as we know it couldn't exist. There are metabolic and digestive enzymes. Some people supplement the latter to help with digestion and they are available abundantly in raw foods. Two enzymes that are key to our internal defense system are SOD and catalase.
Amino Acids
Amino Acids are the building blocks of all proteins, including enzymes. A key protein to our internal defense and detox system is glutathione (made of three amino acids) which is the body's most abundant antioxidant.
Fatty Acids
Fatty Acids are the building blocks of all fats in the body. Healthy fats are essential to human beings, despite what we often hear about avoiding fat. The only two that the human body cannot manufacture are called linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linoleic acid (ALA) and both are "Essential Fatty Acids". Certain plant oils are excellent sources for these. With the right enzymes present, LA and ALA can be converted into omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3s are found in fish and krill oils and these help to satisfy our need for essential fatty acids. The right balance of fatty acids is necessary for our immune system as well as a healthy heart and brain, but unfortunately, the standard American diet has disrupted this balance. Consuming more omega-3s (or ALA as a precursor) can help to bring that back into balance and offer a wide range of health benefits.
Vitamins & Minerals
Vitamins and minerals both work with enzymes to accomplish various functions throughout the body. Vitamin D can be synthesized by the body with adequate exposure to sunshine, but most vitamins and all minerals need to be consumed. And all are important at their own specific levels. Synthetic versions (as those in your drug-store variety supplements) do not offer much value nutritionally. The more supplements come direct from food (or food state supplements), the better. The vitamin-like substance CoQ10 is another key element to our internal defense system.
Probiotics
Probiotics are friendly microbes that help us to keep "unfriendly" microbes in check and help to optimize our digestive system while minimizing issues like candida overgrowth. Like antioxidants, probiotics are coming into nutritional vogue, so we encourage you to be a selective about paying more for a product just because it's had a few probiotics thrown in for marketing purposes.
Antioxidants
Antioxidants reduce the oxidative stress that's not only part of every day living, but that also builds up due to toxins present throughout our lives. Antioxidant importance needs to be kept in context with other nutrients, but they are essential for keeping us well, as oxidative stress can underlie just about every disease we know of.
While there are many foods that provide us with valuable antioxidants, including blueberries, acai, pomegranates, mangosteen, green tea, red wine, and cacao (made into dark chocolate), all food-based antioxidants (including vitamins C and E) require the body's internal defense system to provide antioxidant support. Maintaining the body's own system is the key to optimum health but we know from personal experience that supplementing these may prove valuable for some.
The Body's Master Antioxidant
Even with a variety of supplementation, your body may require an additional boost in its antioxidant abilities. We recommend supplementing the body's glutathione levels -- the body's MASTER Antioxidant -- especially for those with depleted immune systems, low energy levels, or problematic toxin levels (including heavy metals).
Glutathione levels have been shown to decline as we age, when illness strikes and when undue stress is put on the body (as through exercise, etc.). Until recently, there was no way to increase these levels; oral glutathione has been shown to break down during digestion and because of its size, unable to enter the cells even if any of it survives the digestive tract. And glutathione injections are only minimally useful for the same reason; glutathione itself simply cannot enter into the cells.
This is where MaxGXL Glutathione Accelerator comes in.

The body manufactures glutathione whenever it's needed, but when given the necessary components, glutathione production is increased; it is revved up inside every cell. The late Dr. Robert Keller, a highly credentialed M.D. with three degrees, found a way to give the body the precursors necessary to make glutathione within each cell. He has given MaxGXL to the world of wellness and we are excited to share this important information with you.
MaxGXL™ was proven effective in a two-month, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to boost intracellular glutathione levels by nearly 300%. It does this by providing the building blocks of glutathione, along with other nutrients that support the process of manufacturing and recycling glutathione in the cells. MaxGXL has been shown in this study to raise DHEA and IGF-1 levels by 46% and 40.8%. It was also shown to lower Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) by 37%, a major marker of cellular inflammation, implicated in most disease processes and a prime element in conditions like joint pain.

Acai & Resveratrol
Acai and Resveratrol are extremely popular health supplements and TamPogo has two high-quality versions at excellent prices -- Perfect Acai and Super Resveratrol.
Perfect Acai is Perfect for Your Body ...
Acai is the high-energy berry of a special Amazon palm tree known by the Brazilians as "the tree of life". Studies have shown that this little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world! Acai contains a remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging. A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats and dietary fiber which helps promote cardiovascular and digestive health.
The Acai Berry is a small fruit that grows in the Amazon Rainforest. While the Acai berry may be small, it packs an explosive nutritional punch. Acai (ah-sigh-ee) is one of the highest rated antioxidant fruits in the world. Acai is mostly seed, covered in a small amount of pulp. In fact, about 90% of the Acai berry is seed. No one in the Amazon eats the Acai seed, it is discarded and they consume the skin and pulp.
Perfect Acai is made only with freeze dried Acai skin and pulp. You will never find Acai seed in Perfect Acai. Perfect Acai supplements are made with 100% Freeze Dried, Organic, and Fairly Traded Acai. Perfect Acai DOES NOT use any FILLERS or FLOWING AGENTS. You will NOT see things like magnesium stearate, silica or rice in our products - just PURE Acai in a vegetable capsule.
And Perfect for the Planet ...
Perfect Acai is made exclusively from sustainable, fairly traded, organic Acai. Your purchase helps to protect the Amazon rainforest and the indigenous people of the Amazon. Fairly traded means they pay a price for Acai that ensures the locals can live on the wages from harvesting Acai. Our supplier is helping to save the rainforest. It is more profitable for locals to maintain the trees in the Amazon Rainforest than it is to chop down the trees and sell the wood (their method of income prior to harvesting Acai berries).
TamPogo's Perfect Acai - 120 capsules; Serving Size: 2 Capsules (500 mg each). Servings per container: 60; Amount per Serving: 1000 MG Freeze Dried Organic Acai.
Super Resveratrol
Resveratrol is a natural compound found in grapes, mulberries, peanuts, and other plants or food products, especially red wine. Recent studies have shown it may protect against cancer and many other diseases. Research shows it can also protect against cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and liver disease by acting as an antioxidant, antimutagen, and anti-inflammatory.
Resveratrol exists in two forms; trans-resveratrol and cis-resveratrol. Research has proven that trans-resveratrol is the biologically active isomer form. Some resveratrol products are listed simply as "resveratrolâ" or "total resveratrol" which does not identify whether it is the active "trans-resveratrol" molecule. On a product's Supplement Facts Panel you should look for three things:
1) Amount of "Trans-Resveratrol" per capsule
2) Amount of actual Resveratrol (not just the amount of TOTAL ingredients -- which may only include a small amount of resveratrol)
3) The purity of the Resveratrol. (For example: A product listed as "100 mg Trans-Resveratrol - 25%" only has 25mg of active Resveratrol. You would, therefore, need to take four capsules to obtain 100mg of effective resveratrol.Currently, most researchers recommend 250-500mg of Trans-Resveratrol daily)
TamPogo's Resveratrol - 500mg Resveratrol (50%) = 250mg effective Trans-Resveratrol per Capsule. Serving Size: 1 Capsule; Servings per container: 60; AMT/Serving: 250mg
Trans-Resveratrol (from 500 mgs. Polygonum cuspidatum [Japanese Knotweed] Root Extract) Other ingredients: Cellulose (plant fiber), magnesium stearate (vegetable source) and silicon dioxide
